My very first project, I made last week. I quite love it!
Sorry I don't have picture of me completing the project. I really thought it was gonna turn out awful!
For my first trip to Michael's, I found some white wooden letters for $3.00. I grabbed some scrapbook paper, glue, and mod podge. When I got home, I traced the S on the back on the cute, brown & flowery scrapbook paper. (I traced it on the back so I could see the pencil mark). I grabbed a box cutter razor I still had from when I worked at the dollar store and began to cut out the S. I covered the wooden S in glue and placed the paper S on top. I flipped it over and trimmed off all excess paper.
I covered the S in mod podge and let it dry. Don't let me fool you, though it was my last step, and though I have it hanging, it's still not done. I need to rough up the sides some and smooth the paper down around the edges! But until I get around to getting the tools for that, I have it hanging up above my bed.
Like my clock? It was a Christmas gift! But I saw my friend buying it for me on accident! You can get the over-sized beauty at Walmart! I LOVE big clocks! And I plan on getting this beauty one day:
Measures 4" deep with a 29" diameter
For those of you wondering what to get me off my wedding registry, PLEASE GET ME THIS!
Okay, moving on.
My next craft included star fish. On a walk down the beach recently, I found about dozen
star fish washed up on shore. (Before you freak out...yes they were dead.)
First I dried them out in the sun. I bleached them to get the smell out. But then I was stuck. I had no crafty ideas on what to do with them. They were so fragile so I couldn't use them for a necklace or anything. And they smell like salty bleach. (Not a good smell in case you're wondering)
I am in love with http://www.craftaholicsanonymous.net/. So I thought hey, why not just send her a message and see what she thinks? Super sweet lady btw. She had two ideas, one being glass apothecary. And the other making a cute garland. I decided I would go with the glass apothecary. However, after looking at a few, I couldn't find any for under $20-30. So I went to Michael's and found some awesome look-a-like plastic tilting jars for only $7. I drove down the beach (trying to beat the rain) and scooped up a bucket of sand. I came home and let the creative juices flow. This is what I came up with:
Yeah the picture frame was just a quick thing :) I painted it blue, drizzled some glue (poet) sprinkled some sand, and glued everything else on! Dabbed it with some mod podge. Viola!
Another thing I did yesterday was give my dry erase board a make over. It was plain white and ugly. Sorry I don't have a before picture, but this is it once I was done with it:
Crafts. are. so. much. fun.
Mah craft box! (It was supposed to be ugly and patchy) Its a box only a mother could love <3
